PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
NOVAA seeks to empower volunteer management professionals to excellence by encouraging professional growth through education, shared resources, recognition and peer support. NOVAA’s Professional Development Committee is responsible for implementing a variety of initiatives to support individuals as they pursue opportunities for growth and advancement.
- Volunteer Management 101 Workshop: Advance your knowledge by joining the next Volunteer Management 101 workshop, where skilled presenters provide workshop participants with the tools needed to enhance an existing volunteer program or build one from scratch. The Volunteer Management 101 workshop is co-sponsored by NOVAA, TACS (Technical Assistance for Community Services), Hands On Greater Portland, the Points of Light Foundation and Oregon Volunteers. - Advanced Practitioner Meetings: NOVAA offers three advanced practitioner meetings each year for professionals who have worked in the field for 3 years or more. Watch for exciting opportunities in the NOVAA newsletter.
- Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) Study Groups and Recertification: Enhance your professional career by joining other NOVAA members to study for and obtain your CVA.The CVA is sponsored by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). This unique program recognizes practitioners in the field of volunteer resource management who meet specific standards measured via a testing process and peer review of a written portfolio. - Awards: Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 NOVAA Awards! Recognize local area volunteer management professionals by participating in NOVAA’s annual awards program. NOVAA presents three awards each year: the Lucke Award for exemplary service in the field of Volunteer Management; the Greger Award for exemplary service to NOVAA; and the Leadership Award for exemplary services as a board of directors member. - Scholarships: Further your professional skills by applying for a NOVAA scholarship. NOVAA offers scholarships to help members pay for registration fees for events, programs and other functions that are determined to enhance the profession of volunteer administration. To apply for a NOVAA scholarship, please complete NOVAA’s scholarship application at http://www.novaa.org/forms.php and submit it as instructed on the form.
