NOVAA’s Nominating Committee, chaired by Annette Shaff-Palmer, is hard at work talking to members about serving on next year’s Board or one of the standing committees.
The Nominating Committee is identifying candidates for the following positions for 2010-11: President, President Elect, Conference Co-Chair, Professional Development Co-Chair, Members at Large. All of NOVAA’s standing committees (Conference, Marketing, Membership, Professional Development, and Program) are seeking additional members. Serving on the NOVAA Board or on a NOVAA committee is a fantastic way to get to know other volunteer administrators and develop yourself professionally. If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved, please contact Annette Shaff-Palmer at a_shaff@yahoo.com or Carol Cruzan at ccruzan@omsi.edu. The slate of directors for next year’s Board will be presented to the NOVAA membership for voting by email at the beginning of May. ServiceNation Wants Your Input on the Future of National and Community Service
It's hard to believe it's been nearly a year since President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act into law. This landmark legislation signaled a new era of community service in the United States.
To mark the one-year anniversary on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 and to ensure the continued growth of service across the country, ServiceNation (a national campaign to increase service opportunities and elevate service as a core ideal and problem-solving strategy in American society) is bringing service leaders together for a strategy session in Washington, DC. These leaders will engage in important conversations that will help shape the future of national and community service for years to come. But they won't get very far without the participation of volunteer management professionals. They need your help to set the agenda and guide the conversation. Take a moment to send them your ideas and suggestions for the future of the service movement. Go to http://www.servicenation.org/page/s/yourthoughts to give your input! |
