Why Do  you Ask?

Interviews as Essential to the Volunteer Life Cycle

Most volunteer programs use interviews to screen and place applicants. But do you use them at mid-course and at the end of a person's service?

Consider these scenarios:

Scenario #1: You are interviewing a potential volunteer, but your gut tells you that it's just not a good fit. What do you do now? This workshop will explore the power of first impressions, as well as the best way to handle things when you find yourself needing to correct course.

Scenario #2: Imagining yourself as a volunteer with your own organization, you wonder what you would do if you were yearning for more challenges, or possibly noticing things in need of improvement. We will also address "mid-course" interviews as a solution to unearthing these kinds of issues.

Scenario #3: A volunteer has let you know that they will no longer be volunteering with your organization. This is yet another valuable opportunity to utilize an exit interview to both thank and celebrate the volunteer, as well as to obtain their feedback and suggestions.

This interactive workshop will help you use all types of interviews to their fullest potentials, benefitting you, your organization, and your volunteers. We hope you'll join us!
